This blog is a tribute to the wonder-fruit “Banana”, that would not disappoint you if you let it serve you. It is also an eye-opener for those who are afraid of this nature’s wholesome fruit.

We all know that health and banana go hand in hand. The new-age definition of banana replaces the age-old saying about apple. The new fitness mantra now goes like this “A Banana a day keeps the doctor away!”

Banana is a rare combination of sucrose, fructose, glucose and fibre. An instant energy booster, a banana, is a complete  food in itself apart from being power-packed with other health benefits.

  • Banana as a feel good factor: Do you tend to feel low often? If yes, then keep bananas handy. Banana is the best thing you could ever ask for to combat the feeling of dullness. The MIND survey done on a group of people suggested that people actually felt much better after eating banana. And its not a magic…The tryptophan protein present in bananas has a relaxing effect on the body and the mind, thus making you feel elated.
  • Banana for women: All those ladies popping up pills out there for PMS,  binge on bananas to give your Vitamin B6 a high and regulate your blood glucose levels for a better mood.
  • Banana  for Anemia: Anemic patients can easily rely upon bananas to fulfill their iron requirements and to stimulate their haemoglobin production.
  • Banana for Blood Pressure: You might soon see the banana industry promoting bananas to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke. It is rich in potassium and low in salt which is a prefect combination to beat blood pressure.
  • Banana for intelligence: Bananas in breakfast are believed to have a positive impact on the brain cells.
  • Banana for heartburn: Banana has effective anti-acid properties and is an ideal food it you have the “burning” sensation in your body.
  • Banana for Nerves: The high Vitamin B content in banana keeps the nervous system calm and healthy, if consumed regularly.
  • Banana as a Substitute: Banana is a healthy substitute for those who have the tendency to gorge on fast foods. It controls the blood sugar levels and provides satisfactory carbs to keep cravings at bay.
  • Banana for Ulcers: Do you suffer from intestinal disorders? Banana is the solution to your intestinal miseries. It is also the prescribed fruit in chronic intestinal cases and its soft texture and smoothness takes care of acidity.
  • Banana to the Aid of Smokers: The habitual smokers can benefit immensely from the Potassium, Magnesium, Vitamin B6 and B12 content present in  banana. It also helps the body ward off the harmful effects of nicotine.
  • Banana Prevents Strokes: The risk of stroke reduces to about 40% if banana ia a part of your regular diet.

Are you still thinking about calories?

Stop it and binge on this nutritious fruit without worrying about calories! I am myself a fitness freak but do not mind adding a bit of healthy banana calories to my diet. After all the poor fruit does not deserve to be abandoned just for the high calorie reasons!
