Panoramio is originally a Spain-based product that was acquired by Google in July 2007. It is an online system of maintaining and sharing geo-located pictures and offers a huge storage space of 2GB to its users. Panoramio just costs a “surprising smile” and its huge storage space is one of the contributing factors of its increasing fan following. Panoramio maintains a huge database of about one million geo-located pictures to be shared world wide.

Java Script is the base of Panoramio and Google map that needs to be enabled in order to display photos and track the location of the pictures through satellite.

Facts about Panoramio

Panoramio is the outcome of two enthusiastic professionals who started with a vision in their minds. Today with its founders’ efforts Panoramio has grown into a big busy team constantly working towards its betterment.

The founders of Panoramio Joaquin Cuenca Abela and Eduardo Manchon Aguilar are childhood friends and belong to two small towns in South East Spain. 

Jaoquin Cuenca Abela developed interest in computes at a very young age of 8 years. He started with the basics of computers in the year 1984 and eventually studied MS in Computer Science from University of Valencia and Paris Sud XI University. It was in the year 2005 that he got involved with Panoramio as a pass-time and now since 2006 he has been completely working with Panoramio.

Eduardo Manchon Aguilar is a psychologist by profession and holds an experience of 7 long years in the usability field. Manchon started working with Jaoquin Cuenca Abela to come up with this fabulous idea of Panoramio in the year 2007. Panoramio was launched in October 3rd, 2007.

Today Panoramio is a Google product. It was acquired by Google in July 2007.
